GRUESOME!!
Young spittlebugs feed by sucking juice from plants. Some of this juice passes through their bodies and oozes as bubbles from openings on their bodies. The bubbles don't burst easily, so they quickly pile up. Sometimes these young spittlebugs are completely covered with bubbles.

Composting

Place two pieces of apple into a plastic bag and seal the bag.

Bury the bag in a jar of soil.

Take two more pieces of apple and bury them by themselves in another jar of soil.

Repeat this process but make the next ball smaller.

Water the jars each day.

Watch how they rot.

Dig them up after two weeks and compare them.

Take a picture, send it in (as a jpeg or mail as a print) and Global Forest will post it in the GF-Gallery along with your name and we will mail you a GF series sticker for your GF collection.
