Spanish Ibex Extinct
Spanish Ibex Extinct The last living Spanish Ibex has been found dead
under a fallen tree in the Ordesa National Park in Spain. Spanish
Ibex at one time were found across a large area of land which
stretched from the Sierra de los Nieves to the French Pyrenees. The
Ibex were declared a protected species in 1973 but their habitat
continued shrinking and they were at risk from predators. Their
population declined until the only surviving member was the lone
female who has been found dead. 15 JANUARY 1999
