Against the grain
Scientists believe that the number of grain beetles and mites present in grain and cereal-based food products is increasing. This is due to the insects developing a resistance to the pesticides used to control them. Scientists now recommend that farmers and grain stores use pesticides less frequently and instead increase the use of organic methods to control the pests.
