Primal dream
Primal dream An effort is being made to restore Hong Kong's
ecology. The natural environment has been degraded through
deforestation, improper reforestation practices, and parasites such
as pine nematodes. Researchers are testing the technique of
planting a variety of native plant species and reintroducing native
animals in selected reforestation areas to try and restore the
biodiversity of these areas. They hope that this will result in
restoration of the natural diversity of Hong Kong's forests. The
natural diversity of species in Hong Kong is such that it supports
more types of bird, mammal, insect and plant species than are found
