Harpy eagles fly through jungle tree-tops at high speeds, snatching up monkeys for a meal.
Lands for Life assailed as threat to rare forests
Lands for Life assailed as threat to rare forests Plans to log and mine in large areas of Northern
and Central Ontario have sparked 1,252 scientists (of these, 266
from around the world) to sign a statement which demands that the
government change or drop the plans. A considerable debate has
arisen as the scientists argue that the planet's forests are
disappearing, and they demand that 20% of the wilderness areas be
preserved. Ontario's Minister of Natural Resources claims, however,
that the scientists lack background knowledge and
credentials. 3 DECEMBER 1999
