In B.C., a non-profit society called Silva Forest Foundation has started an ecosystem program that certifies foresters who have taken measures to protect, restore and maintain forests and to carefully extract trees. Silva just made its first certification in B.C., and expects to receive its own accreditation with the international Forest Stewardship Council.
