Herb of the Week: Eucalyptus or gum tree

Herb of the Week: Eucalyptus or gum tree
Native to Australia, eucalyptus trees hold antiseptic properties in their distinctively scented leaves. Eucalyptus extracts are used to treat sicknesses such as colds, coughs and chest infections, and are common ingredients in medicines. In Australia, where acres and acres of eucalypts grow together, a blue haze can be seen over the trees as the oils are released from their leaves in the hot sun. Eucalypts can be grown in B.C., and can reach heights of 22.5 metres (75 feet).
