Paleontologists looking for the origin of tuberculosis (TB) in humans have found evidence that the New World form of TB may have originated in the Old World with animals that crossed the Bering Land Bridge more than 17,000 years ago. Those animals could then have passed the infection on to early Americans who hunted them.
