Flaxseed may slow breast cancer

Flaxseed may slow breast cancer
A new Canadian study has found that tumour growth in breast cancer patients slows down in patients who consume flaxseed muffins. The study involved 50 women who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While waiting for surgery to remove their tumours, the women were divided into two groups. One group was given a daily muffin containing about 50 grams (about two tablespoons) of ground flaxseed, and the other group was given ordinary muffins. After the tumours were removed, usually within 40 days of diagnosis, the scientists examined the tumours to see how fast the cancer cells had been growing. The women who had received the flaxseed muffins had slower growing tumours than the women who had eaten the ordinary muffins.
