Gene hints at diabetes cure Canadian and Korean scientists have created a
synthetic gene which causes the liver to produce a substitute for
insulin. When the gene was inserted into diabetic mice and rats,
the disease disappeared for long periods without any side effects.
This raises the possibility of a cure for diabetes in
