Infants don't reject different hearts
Doctors have successfully given several infants new hearts with different blood types. Infants do not have antibodies their blood that would reject a organ with a different blood type - these antibodies develop as children grow. This discovery may save many infants by giving them transplants sooner and less usable hearts will go to waste because the blood types don't match.
