Researcher heals with honey

Researcher heals with honey
After 20 years of study, a researcher in New Zealand has found that honey is more effective for cleaning and healing wounds and burns than medicinal ointments used by doctors. Dr Molan says that he doesn't understand completely how honey works to heal wounds but says that the enzymes that bees add to nectar to turn it into honey contribute to its effectiveness. Honey may also be an useful treatment for other injuries such as bed sores, foot ulcers and other hard-to-heal lesions.
