Sharks do get cancer
Sharks do get cancer Shark cartilage has been used for many years as an
alternative treatment for cancer, because many people believe that
sharks do not get cancer. However, scientists at the Registry of
Tumors in Lower Animals at George Washington University, Washington
now report that sharks, rays and skates suffer up to 40 different
kinds of tumors, including cancer of the cartilage. Dr John
Harshbarger of the Registry says that sharks are being destroyed
needlessly because of these alternative beliefs. 19 APRIL 2000
