Koalas are marsupials, a mammal that carries its young in a pouch. They live in the Eucalyptus forests of Australia and they only eat the new leaves of a few different types of eucalypt trees. Koala's paws are hand-like, strong, and have very sharp claws to help them hold onto tree trunks and branches.
Genome reveals unity in diversity
Genome reveals unity in diversity New research on the human genome shows that all
humans, regardless of race, are 99% identical. The human genome
only contains about 30,000 genes - the same number as corn. Think
of that next time you're eating corn! Scientists discovered that
humans carried genes from 200 different bacteria. "We knew that
genes jumped between bacteria, but not that they jumped between
bacteria and man." FEBRUARY 13, 2001
