Rats with a growing resistance to poisons are thriving in Melbourne, Australia. The population explosion means that humans are more at risk from rat-borne diseases. A breeding pair of rats and their offspring can produce 2000 rats in two months! Rats are cautious and seem very able to adapt to poisons, so pest controllers need to change poisons and the way they use them all the time.
