GRUESOME!!
Winter bugs called snow fleas are born in icy waters and feed on algae that grows on snow. Spring-tails are also called snow fleas and they leap around on snow banks. They eat the sap which oozes from trees. Spring-tails look very similar to fossils of 300 million years ago!

Colonies of bacteria live underneath glaciers, where they produce gas which erodes the rock under the glaciers. Researchers believe that this may account for the large amounts of carbon dioxide found underneath the Greenland ice sheet.
