Waste not Human manure, which is a by-product of sewage
treatment, is often used as a fertilizer on crops. However, it is
not always treated to remove harmful bacteria, and there is
disagreement on the effectiveness of treatment methods. If the
manure is not properly treated and the bacteria remains on the food
crops when they are harvested, they can cause illness in humans
