Airline safety may get superjumbo lift
A new double-decker jet is being built which will hold 650 passengers. The plane is being built with new technological safety features, such as an onboard electronic map library which will replace the pile of paper maps that pilots now use. Pilot visibility will also be improved by locating the cockpit closer to the ground. Pilots will also have a display showing the orientation of the nose gear. Fully loaded, the plane will weigh 540,000 kilograms.
