Cosmetic contact lenses pose risk of injury
Cosmetic contact lenses pose risk of injury Over the counter cosmetic contact lenses-- the
kind that make human eyes look like those of cats, lizards and
aliens or make a blue eye purple-- pose a risk of serious eye
injury. Health Canada's Hugh Davis said the main concern with over
the counter cosmetic lenses is that they are not personally fitted
to eyes, as prescription lenses are. Improperly fitting lenses can
interfere with oxygen flow to the cornea and cause
infection. OCTOBER 24, 2000
