The trembling aspen tree takes its name from the fact that the slightest breeze causes the long flat stems attached to the leaves to tinkle.
Arsenic and old brakes
Arsenic and old brakes Dr. Ma from the University of Florida has
discovered that the Chinese brake fern loves arsenic! The fern can
not only tolerate arsenic, it thrives on it, and researchers have
found concentrations of 20 grams of arsenic per kilogram of
foliage. It is possible that the brake fern could be used to clean
up the soil in sites that have been contaminated with
arsenic. FEBRUARY 3, 2001
