Monarch butterflies have magnitite (a mineral) inside their heads and this helps them determine 'North', just like a magnet.

Carrot power Researchers say that they have found a gene in
carrots which acts as a plant antifreeze. This gene protects
carrots from frost damage. Scientists believe that the gene can be
transferred into other varieties of plants to prevent ice crystals
