Subalpine larch, a deciduous conifer tree, turns a spectacular shade of yellow in the autumn prior to shedding its leaves. This tree species lives near the tops of mountains and can live for over 1,000 years!
Space data supports warming theory
Space data supports warming theory Satellite data has now dispelled most doubt about
the presence and effect of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. By
comparing two sets of satellite data, taken 27 years apart,
scientists have found significant changes in the outgoing long-wave
radiation from the earth. The changes are linked to the increase in
the levels of 'greenhouse gases' in the atmosphere such as methane,
carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons, and are consistent with
ground measurements. MARCH 15, 2001
