Hake disappearing

Hake disappearing
Hake, a small dark-grey fish used for making artificial crab meat and fish sticks, is disappearing off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Officials allowed a catch of 50,000 tonnes of hake for plants to process this year, but three plants based in Ucluelet remain closed because fishermen cannot find any hake. The Mayor of Ucluelet is calling the absence of hake a natural disaster for the region.
