Did you know that there are a group of frogs in South America known as 'poison-dart frogs'? There are different types of frogs within the group but most of them are brightly coloured and have black spots. They are dangerous to touch because they have poison on their skin. Native people in the area used to rub the poison onto their arrows before hunting.

In hot water... Despite reductions in allowed catches, the
populations of cod and other white fish in the Atlantic Ocean
continue to decline. It is thought that global climate change
causing a warming of the cold waters could be to blame. Although
there are more mature fish producing eggs than there were 2 years
ago, the amount of young fish growing to maturity is declining. The
Advisory Committee on Fisheries Management is now calling for a
further decrease in allowed catches in the North Sea. 20 NOVEMBER 1999, P. 14
