Chinese thirst
Chinese thirst China is running out of water due to high levels
of pollution found throughout their remaining water supply. A
report from the World Resources Institute states that more than
half of their cities have serious water shortages and around 80 per
cent of the country’s rivers are so polluted that fish cannot
survive in them. More than half of China’s population -
around 700 million people - drink water that is contaminated above
minimum drinking standards. 11 JULY 2000
