Gaping Hole
The hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica is bigger than ever. It covers an area three times the size of the United States. Scientists blame the size of the hole on the El Nino weather pattern. They say that El Nino has caused colder air to form over the Antarctic and this has created ideal conditions for ozone-destroying clouds to form.
