GRUESOME!!
Spiders that hunt at night often have a special layer at the back of their big eyes. It acts like a mirror to bounce light back into the eyes. On a dark night, this reflected light makes the spider's eyes seem to glow!

Thrown a lifeline

Thrown a lifeline
It is hoped that a plan by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization to change longline fishing practices will help to protect sea birds. Many seabirds become hooked on the longline hooks when they try to eat the bait before it sinks. Fishing vessels will now need to protect seabirds from the lines using different techniques. One method favoured by conservationists is passing the line through a steel tube which shields the bait from birds. Another method is to use a “scarecrow‿ hung over the stern of the boat to frighten birds away.
