A ground squirrel usually loses about 80% of its body weight whilst hibernating.
Underwater Refuge the Future of Fish
Underwater Refuge the Future of Fish British Columbia is proud of its parks. Covering
12% of the province--over 10 million hectares--they are part of our
very identity. But there is a line where conservation thinking has
historically stopped ....the shoreline. Scientists hope to develop
protected areas for fish in the wild to enhance growth and
survival. We've known for a long time that hunting on land is not
sustainable, bt we've hehaved in the oceans as if it were.
Protected refuges for sea creatures would ensure that at least some
of the oceans most valuable wildlife habitats would be protected
for generations to come. JUNE 6, 2000
