FACTOID!!
The survival of the African baobab tree is dependent upon monkeys and baboons who eat many of the seeds - so many in fact that some seeds are not chewed. The unchewed seeds pass through their bodies and are pooped out into the desert. These seeds are then able to sprout and draw nutrients from the pile of excrement.

Watch Decomposition in Action

Take a new zip-lock plastic bag and add a leaf and some water from a pond.

Fill the bag 2/3's up with water and zip the bag closed.

Take some duct tape and tape the bag with the water and the leaf to a wall inside your home away from any direct sunlight.

Watch the leaf for the next 30 days and you will see it decompose.

Take a picture of the leaf before you put it in the water.

Then take a picture of the leaf after it has been in water for 30 days - it will be a skeleton.

Send us your leaf pictures (as jpegs or mail it as prints), and Global Forest will post them in the GF-Gallery along with your name and we will send you a GF sticker for your collection.
