White tree frogs have such big appetites that they sometimes eat rats.
New species of dinosaur unearthed in Egypt
New species of dinosaur unearthed in Egypt Researchers have discovered a gargantuan new
species of dinosaur in a Sahara oasis. Its name, Paralititan, means
tidal giant. The long-necked, long-tailed vegetarian could have
straddled a moden-day African elephant, and has been buried in
Egypt for 94 million years. Finding the Paralititan is very
significant as there is little known about African dinosaurs, and
the period in which Paralititan lived, between 85 and 100 million
years ago, is still a mystery to paleontologists (dinosaur
scientists). This specimen appears to have died while eating some
leaves in a tidal mangrove swamp that probably looked much like the
Florida Evergaldes of today. The fossil was found at a sight that
has been named "dinosaur heaven" and the scientists have already
brought back 2,000 kilograms of bones. FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 2001
