Skunk cabbage is one of the first plants to sprout in the springtime in the Northern Hemisphere. The plant itself is 20?C (76?F) warmer than the surrounding air, and it melts the snow around itself so that the shoots can sprout upwards.

A rare Asian mountain buffalo that is on the endangered species list actually never existed at all! Scientists heard legends of the buffalo and thought they bought its twisted horns at Cambodian, Vietnamese and Thai markets. What they really bought were cows horns that had been heated and twisted to sell to tourists!
