A beaver's front teeth are bright orange because of their super hard enamel coat. These teeth must be sharp because the beaver uses them to cut down trees. Beaver's teeth never wear out because they never stop growing!
Indonesian ecosystem under siege
Indonesian ecosystem under siege Indonesia's ecosystem is being threatened, in
large part due to the poor economic conditions most of its people
live under. Many people are hunting endangered species both for
food and to sell to support themselves. Impoverished Indonesians
can sell the exotic endangered species to foreigners for a lot of
money. They are also cutting down the forests for firewood and for
space to grow both food and cash crops. The existence of nature
preserves is not helping since the people are poaching species
inside of the parks. Many species in the ecologically diverse
country are nearing extinction, and some are already extinct.
Indonesia has more plant and animal species in it than any other
country except Brazil. 27 OCTOBER 1998
