Rat rage has New Yorkers gnawing over vermin control
The population of the Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus) is exploding in New York, to the frustration of the city’s residents. The rats are feasting on piles of garbage, which they find in open trash cans and plastic garbage bags. The city has begun an advertising campaign encouraging residents to place their garbage in enclosed containers.
