West Nile virus
West Nile virus Mosquitoes are infecting residents of New York
with the potentially fatal West Nile virus again this summer. The
three confirmed cases of the virus this year all hail from Staten
Island and were infected before the city started its spraying
campaign against the mosquitoes. Seven people died of the virus
last year and officials are again warning people to protect
themselves from mosquito bites. 19 AUGUST 2000
