Botanist practiced his science in the West and beyond David Douglas (1799-1834), the Scottish botanist
and explorer, became famous because of his dedication and work with
trees and plants. He traveled the world over, introduced a record
of 7,000 plants and seeds into Great Britain, and has had numerous
plant species named after him, including the Douglas fir tree. He
died by accident in Hawaii, leaving an admirable legacy of plant
life.
