Caterpillar plague A plaque of caterpillars is devastating crops in
Cameroon's Eastern and Southern provinces. Farmers are advised to
spread wood ash on leaves of their plants until chemicals can be
provided with the government. A similar infestation in the 1980's
was followed by a famine. One plantation owner said, "Not a single
green plant is spared, from bananas to cocoyams to
