New research has found that high atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide can kill plant- eating insects by reducing the nutritional value of the leaves they eat. This finding shows that the increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere can have indirect effects on life, as well as direct effects such as the increase in the world's temperatures.
