Some fish can make electricity. They surround themselves with an electrical field. If anything moves in the field, the fish can feel it. Their electrical fields are able to detect food and their enemies.
Lessons from the anthill
Lessons from the anthill Researchers have announced that ants have grown
their own fungus farms for 50 million years, domesticating several
different varieties during different periods in history. After
disasters which wipe out crops, the ants will go into the wild to
find new specimens to develop their crops from. The researchers say
that this demonstrates the importance to humans of maintaining
biodiversity in the wild, as it may not be possible to continue to
grow one only type of plant forever. Other plants which share a
close connection to the cultivated plant need to be looked to as
future crops themselves.
