Heavenly Tail
Heavenly Tail Measurements taken by the Ulysses spacecraft in
1990 show that the longest comet tail ever recorded is possessed by
Comet Hyakutake. An article in the journal "Nature reports that the
comet, seen in 1996, has a tail that is 565 million km long - this
is almost 4 times the distance of the Earth from the Sun. The
previous record-holder was the Great March Comet of 1843, which had
a tail that was twice the distance from the Earth to the
Sun. 19 APRIL 2000
