Lynx have adapted to life in the snow. They have huge feet that function as snow-shoes, allowing this tufted-eared cat to hunt in deep snow country without wasting energy by breaking trails.
Mean and minty
Mean and minty New research from India has shown that peppermint
oil can be used as a mosquito repellent, and that it can also act
to kill mosquito larvae. In many countries of the world, mosquitos
carry diseases such as malaria and dengue fever, which can be fatal
to humans. The results of this research show an 85 per cent
protection rate from mosquito bites when peppermint oil is used as
a repellant. 20 NOVEMBER 1999, P. 22
