Injured tortoise gets first-ever shell surgery
A 20 year old female tortoise whose shell was broken by a rock underwent surgery to repair its shell, in the first case of its type. The female, from Tel Aviv, had her shell repaired by veterinarians using epoxy glue, pieces of leather and a metal supporting strap. Her rehabilitation is expected to take up to a year.
