Great barren reefs
A leading coral expert claims that the world's coral reefs are being killed by global warming. He says that warmer temperatures cause coral bleaching, and over the next few decades many of the world's reefs will be damaged past recovery. However, not everyone agrees with his claims. A reef ecologist from James Cook University, Australia, points out that coral reefs have been subjected to warmer weather many times over the course of history and have survived.
