In hot water...
Despite reductions in allowed catches, the populations of cod and other white fish in the Atlantic Ocean continue to decline. It is thought that global climate change causing a warming of the cold waters could be to blame. Although there are more mature fish producing eggs than there were 2 years ago, the amount of young fish growing to maturity is declining. The Advisory Committee on Fisheries Management is now calling for a further decrease in allowed catches in the North Sea.
