Small earthquake rocks southern BC, parts of Vancouver
A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook the southern part of Vancouver Island and parts of the mainland yesterday. The quake originated in the Haro Strait, 14 kilometres east of Victoria, and scientists report that the tremor was part of the normal pattern of seismic activity in that area. 50 quakes have been recorded in southwestern B.C. in the last 6 weeks, with magnitudes ranging from 0.3 to 3.6.
