Winter bugs called snow fleas are born in icy waters and feed on algae that grows on snow. Spring-tails are also called snow fleas and they leap around on snow banks. They eat the sap which oozes from trees. Spring-tails look very similar to fossils of 300 million years ago!

In Edmonton and surrounding area, there has only been 38 millimetres of precipitation in the last seven months. The next driest seven month period was 1886-1887, when 56.3 millimetres fell.
