Did you know that when baby gulls see the red spot on their parents' bills, they know to start pecking for food there? Adult gulls throw-up food for their chicks to eat and seeing the red spot triggers off the chicks' pecking activity.

How not to save the tiger
Eric Dinerstein, chief scientist with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), says that the traditional methods used in trying to preserve tiger populations are not effective and need to be changed if wild populations of tigers are to survive. Scientists are currently engaged in trying to preserve the genetic diversity of the 5 different tiger species found across Asia. Dr Dinerstein suggests that conservationists should concentrate on boosting only the strongest populations of tigers and their habitats.
