Why Do We Classify Organisms?

organisms - organism is a name for any living creature or plant. All things that are alive can be called organisms.
characteristics - characteristics are traits that organisms exhibit. Characteristics can either be physical, like a dog's tail, or they can be a part of a creature's personality. For instance, the fact that cats don't really like water is characteristic of that species.
