Koalas are marsupials, a mammal that carries its young in a pouch. They live in the Eucalyptus forests of Australia and they only eat the new leaves of a few different types of eucalypt trees. Koala's paws are hand-like, strong, and have very sharp claws to help them hold onto tree trunks and branches.
Three Hundred Feet Above the Ground: The Redwood Forest Treetops

The majestic redwood forests are among the tallest standing forests on Earth. Understanding the ecology of these ancient forests is critical to the success of efforts to protect remaining stands of northern Californian redwoods. This long-term study being undertaken by scientists from Humboldt State University and Northern Arizona University, U.S.A., will examine the impact of water relations in redwood forests on forest health. Other expert scientists will gather essential information on populations of marbled murrelets and tree-living salamanders. The study of water relations will enable researchers to understand why the treetops of many redwoods along the forest edge are dying. The wildlife research will contribute significantly to the long-term maintenance of marbled murrelet habitat and provide further information on the role of tree-living salamanders in redwood forests.
