FACTOID!!
Male giraffes fight each other by 'necking'! They push their long necks against each other, bending and twisting them in order to win the fight by a show of strength. Many animals fight this way, including snakes, insects and crabs. Competing in this way allows animals to find out who's boss while protecting themselves from injury. The strongest wins and the loser just has to go away.

Carrot Pump

Cut out the leafy top of a large carrot to make a hollow hole.

Put in a 5 centimetre (2 inch) straw and seal it with wax from a melted candle. Be careful!

Take toothpicks and stick them into the carrot so it can be hung in a glass of food-coloured water.

Watch your carrot for a day or two.

Take a picture of your carrot and send it in (as a jpeg or mail it as a print), and Global Forest will post it in the GF-Gallery along with your name and we will send you a GF sticker for your collection.
