Piltdown bird

Piltdown bird
Scientists have discovered that a fossil, once thought to be the missing link in the chain connecting dinosaurs to birds, is linked by glue not evolution. The fossil, which was purchased from an unknown U.S. dealer, is of a bird's body with a dinosaur's tail. Extensive investigation has now shown that the tail piece was glued on, probably to attract a higher price on the market. Despite this embarrassment palaeontologists think the fossil may still be of value, once the tail part is disregarded, as it is an ancestor of modern birds.
